Tom is a wonderful dog with a lovely mix of affectionate, independent, and social. He loves being close to his people and will happily follow you from room to room, but he's also content to settle quietly on his own and isn't an overly high-energy dog.

Tom is house-trained and crate-trained, making the transition into a new home much easier. He's been working hard on his basic obedience and is making great progress. He walks nicely on a loose leash during shorter walks, knows how to sit on cue, and has a reliable recall that's continuing to improve.

Because Tom likely didn't have much opportunity to learn life as a house dog before coming into foster care, he's still polishing some of his indoor manners. If left alone without appropriate outlets, he may be tempted to chew items like shoes or socks. Providing him with plenty of durable chew toys and setting him up for success has worked well in foster care, and he continues to improve as he learns what's appropriate.

Tom would thrive with a family that's happy to continue building on the great foundation he's already developed. He's a sweet, loyal companion who loves being part of the family and is ready to find a home to call his own!
