FROM THE FOSTER HOME

Gandalf is a quirky, lovable short-legged sweetheart. He somehow has the heart of both a grandpa and a puppy simultaneously. He's been with us for about a month and a half, and he’s filled our home with laughter, given our2 rescue dogs an avid playmate, trotted along with us on adventures, on walks, and to the office, and has been a steady companion.

He greets us with gentle hellos, stretches, howls, or giving us his belly. He’s small but mighty, and he’s pretty quick! He has a mischievous side and was a bit of an escape artist when he first came to us, but he’s also loyal and likes to follow you around the house or yard to see what you’re up to. He doesn’t mind being picked up or brushed, but sometimes will give warning growls when he doesn’t like how something feels.

He is house-trained now and will let you know if he needs to go outside. He has learned to shake the bell at our back door. He does great in the kennel, and we’ve also left him out in the house with no issues.

His short legs on his full-size body make us, first, laugh all the time, and second, think he might be a Pyrenees/Corgi mixture of some kind. He has been working on his leash manners, resource guarding, barking at strangers/men, and keeping his playful mouth to himself or using it to play with toys.

He can be vocal and sassy and also cuddly and up for anything. He loves to go crawl into small spaces like under our steps or behind a couch, and he sleeps in the corner of our closet most nights.

We think he’d do well in a home that can give him lots of love and attention, walks around the neighbourhood, socialization, maybe with older kids or a couple or single person looking for the perfect companion. He does amazing with our dogs and respects boundaries, is good with the few kids he’s met (but would need to watch him closely with food or toddlers grabbing at him). He’s unknown with cats, but he likes to chase squirrels (unsuccessfully). We know he’ll find an awesome home and we’ve absolutely loved getting to know this little guy. What we’re saying is that wherever he goes is a lucky home!
