Meet Eliza Whirl (Ellie) 🤎

Eliza Whirl, affectionately known as Ellie, is a sweet, tan Lab–Shepherd mix with a gentle heart and a joyful, spin-happy side. Ellie enjoys playing outside in short bursts, especially when she has a dog friend and her people with her. She can still feel unsure when she hears unfamiliar outdoor noises, and with her short coat, she gets chilly fairly quickly during very cold weather — but that doesn’t stop her from romping, jumping, and having fun in the snow banks while she can.

Inside the home is where Ellie truly shines. She is outgoing, playful, and full of personality once she feels safe. When she’s excited, she does the cutest little “rodeo spins” and happily entertains herself with toys. She also loves a good chew bone, treats, and is an excellent nap enthusiast.

Ellie is cautious when meeting new dogs at first, but once she feels comfortable, she enjoys playing and engaging with them. She is fully housetrained, has caught on quickly to kennel training, sleeps through the night, and spends time calmly in her kennel while her foster is at work. She settles well indoors and appreciates a predictable routine.

As Ellie continues building confidence, she can be protective about food and treats, and she may also be protective of her favourite things such as her spot on the couch, toys, or the people she’s bonded with. She is learning that sharing is okay and is making progress being comfortable with her foster sister in her space. For her success, she benefits from monitoring around food, treats, and other valued items when other dogs are present, along with clear, consistent boundaries.

Eliza Whirl is working on her confidence and training every day and would thrive in a patient, understanding home that can support her as she continues to grow. With time, structure, and love, this gentle girl has so much potential to blossom.
