FROM THE FOSTER HOME
Claire is an absolute sweetheart who may initially be a bit shy, but quickly warms up to people! She adores going for walks and playing in the snow during winter. At home, she loves playing with toys, spending time with her humans, and taking well-deserved naps. Claire particularly enjoys belly rubs and likes to stay close to her foster while they work, quietly lying next to their desk.
She is fully house trained and comfortable sleeping in her kennel at night, although she prefers to have her bed in the same room as her foster. Claire gets along well with other dogs and children, but she hasn't been introduced to cats yet. It's important to note that Claire has some medical needs (outlined below) that require extra care. Despite her condition, she remains an incredibly loving and wonderful pup, and the perfect addition to the right family's home!
MEDICAL INFORMATION
Claire has a few congenital defects, the most significant being severe valvular pulmonic stenosis, along with a small ventricular septal defect and mild subaortic stenosis. To manage her condition, Claire is currently on medication to reduce the workload on her heart. Due to safety concerns, Claire has not been spayed. Spaying may be permitted down the road, should her condition stabilize.
Moderate exercise is just fine, but it's crucial to let Claire determine her own limits.
Saskatoon Dog Rescue will cover the costs of Claire's medication until her re-check, which adopters are responsible for booking and bringing her to in Edmonton in 4-5 months. If surgery is recommended at that time, SDR will cover half of the surgery costs as well as the appointment cost itself. Following that, adopters will assume responsibility for Claire's future care, appointments, and associated expenses.
