Join the Foster Home Facebook Group
This is where we post dogs needing foster homes, adoption event sign-ups, and key foster updates.
Get Matched with Your Foster Support
You'll be connected with an experienced SDR foster via Facebook Messenger who will guide you through your first days and answer any questions. Tip: Check your message requests, we sometimes end up there!

Pick-up Your Foster Supplies & Adoption Bag
Talk to your foster support or nearest supply coordinator to get everything your pup needs, food, crate, leash, toys, etc. While you're picking up supplies, be sure to grab a SDR-branded adoption bag. Don’t forget to add their favourite toy and a bag of current food when it's time!

Book your First Vet Appointment & Complete the Vet Authorization Form
Once your foster has been with you for about 3 days, book their initial checkup with one of our partnered clinics. Let our medical team know the appointment details so they can submit the required paperwork to the clinic. (Welcome package has more information!)

Submit your Dog’s Profile
After a few days of settling in, once you’ve gotten to know your foster’s personality, it’s time to submit their adoption profile!
Need help writing it? Check out the resources below for tips on crafting a great bio and capturing photos that help your pup stand out.

Watch for Adoption Events
We post event sign-ups in the Foster Facebook Group, sign your pup up to help them meet potential adopters! (At least one set of vaccines is typically required.)

Thinking of Adopting your Foster?
Let your foster support know before your dog is listed, once they’re posted, the standard adoption process applies.
