Mario

AGE: Approx. 10 weeks old

BREED: Shepherd Mix

SEX: Male

From the foster home:

Mario is a relaxed and playful pup! He enjoys being part of the party as any pup would, but he likes his party more on the casual side! He loves to play in the water! He will chase and play with the water from the hose! He would fit in well with any type of home and loves a good cuddle. His brother and him are the best of friends. He would make a great family pet. He is working on potty training and not yet mastered his leash or kennel skills.

Luigi_Website.png

Luigi

AGE: Approx 10 weeks old

BREED: Shepherd Mix

SEX: Male

From the foster home:

Luigi is a character who is constantly on the go! This fun guy is full of energy, always busy with his nose to the ground! He likes to bark at people and lure them in with cuddles being the end goal! He is the ringleader of his brother duo. He is working on potty training and not yet mastered his leash or kennel skills. Luigi would love a fast paced home with loads of fun times to be had. With all his excitement, his sweet side doesn't go unnoticed.

Twizzler_Website.png

Twizzler

AGE: Approx. 18 weeks

BREED: Shepherd Mix

SEX: Female

From the foster home:

Meet Twizzler! At first she is shy, but once she feels comfortable, she is super cuddly. She’s between 3-4 months old so is still teething. She thinks your arm is a chew toy but does well when you redirect her to her chew toys. She loves playing with other playful dogs and does well around children. So far she has been around kids as young as 3 and she has done great! She is making progress in the potty training department but still requires some follow up to go outside. She is being left in the crate when we leave the house. She cries at first but is not eager to leave the crate once we get home. And Twizzler is a shoe lover so be sure she doesn’t steal your favourite pair from you. She has so much love to offer and is truly delightful to be around.

Teefa_Website.png

Teefa

AGE: Approx. 2 years

BREED: Lab Mix

SEX: Female

From the foster home:

Teefa is a very sweet and energetic girl! Not a mean bone in her body, and always so much love to give. Whenever she’s not snoring away on her fluffy mat, she’s either cuddling with you or running outside. She loves to play with toys, go for long walks, look out the window and get pets from her humans.

She’s very high energy but quiets down right away when asked. She is fantastic with lower energy kids and would benefit from a household with older mature children. She does well with other dogs, unknown with cats and other animals. She is house trained and mostly kennel trained - although she doesn’t like being in it if she doesn’t have to.

She is still learning how to walk on a leash but she’s learning fast! She’s a bit anxious at times, but again, something we are working on and she’s improving everyday! She is also more comfortable around women than men, but she gains trust extremely quickly.

Francine_Website.png

Francine

AGE: 5+ years

BREED: Chihuahua and Jack Russell Mix

SEX: Female

From the foster home:

Queen Francine is looking for a family where she is the star of the show. Wanting to be near her person 24/7, Francine doesn't know the meaning of personal space. She has adapted well with all of the changes in her life, but really just wants cuddles all day, every day. Francine is usually a pretty relaxed dog, but does get the zoomies when she's outside. Occasionally, she will play her favourite game of "catch me if you can'' but thankfully doesn't stray far from her people. She can be quite fearful of men and takes a while to warm up to them. Francine has gone to her foster’s workplace and has been around young children, but this little old lady would definitely prefer a quieter space.

Marlo_Website.png

Marlo

AGE: Approx. 1.5 years old

SEX: Female

BREED: Lab Mix

From the foster home:

Marlo came to SDR back in March after living as a feral stray. This sweet beauty had tons of love to give, but struggled with confidence and resource guarding due to her history. She has been working her fuzzy butt off since March, facing fears, learning to trust, and building her confidence. She's now ready to move on to the next step in her journey, which is finding the perfect forever home to help her continue to learn and grow!

Marlo is fully house trained and walks well on her leash. She is kennel trained, but sleeps in a separate room overnight and when her fosters are away so the kennel is rarely necessary. She loves having her own space and will often go to sleep in "her" room even when her fosters are home. She has been left out to roam the house for short periods with no issues as well.

Marlo is the ideal adventure companion, whether you are hiking, cooking, gardening, biking, running, taking out the garbage, doing yoga, walking, changing laundry, taking a shower, watching Netflix...you name it, Marlo will be right by your side! She's a playful girl who needs to run and be active, then will happily play with her toys, take a nap or chew a bone. She does great off leash; she never stays very far, and will come running right back (and FAST) when you call her. She has the softest coat, and the sweetest smile...and ear scratches are her kryptonite!

Although she has made huge strides in public spaces, she still struggles with resource guarding in "her" space. Her fosters are confident she will learn that everything isn't a threat, but this will take time. As such, it's recommended she go to an experienced dog owner who will be the strong, confident and consistent leader she needs in order to help her continue to understand how this new, domesticated world works. Our SDRs volunteer trainer will participate in the adoption process so you are set up with all the guidance you need!

It's tough to put into words how far this sweet girl has come in the months since she arrived. From having her tail firmly and permanently tucked, running away or acting out in fear of everything, to introducing herself to new dogs and people at the park and even letting the odd stranger pet her. Watching her grow has been an amazing privilege for her fosters, but it's time for Marlo to find "her" family so she can continue to learn and trust in her permanent environment.

ADOPTION NOTE:

Marlo is not recommended with kids younger than teen years and not good with cats. Because our girl is a special case, the adoption process will be a bit different - there will be multiple meet and greets in different environments, a trial sleepover, and our SDR trainer will be involved as well. This is all to ensure that Marlo is going to the absolute ideal forever home - for her, and for her humans.

Luca_Website.png

Luca

AGE: Approx. 8 weeks old

SEX: Male

BREED: Shepherd Mix

LITTER: Pixar

From the foster home:

Luca is a very fun boy who loves snuggles with humans and playing with his sister. He isn’t too sure how to play with his foster brother who is bigger than him, but he loves to stand on the sidelines and bark at them while they play. He looks like a little polar bear and acts like one too, as he is very playful at times followed by big long naps. He does well with other dogs, but stays away when things get too rough. He is very good at going to the bathroom on a pee pad or outside, letting you know with barks and excitement when he needs to use the bathroom. He’s working on his kennel training and is getting quite good on a leash.

Dash_Website.png

Dash

AGE: Approx. 8 weeks old

SEX: Male

BREED: Shepherd Mix

LITTER: Pixar

From the foster home:

Dash is such a lovely boy who poses for the camera EVERY time - just look at those ears (I think he thinks he's a model) He is a super outgoing guy who loves nothing more than playing roughhouse with his brother. He loves to chew and does have some separation anxiety when I leave the house (or room). He travels well in the crate but it is still not a happy place for him inside. I have left him in the bathroom with his foster brother when I leave them alone and they have been perfect gentlemen other than the barking. Dash is house trained as long as you take him out every couple of hours and once during the night. Dash walks well on a leash and is just so happy to meet everyone he comes across. He is timid with other dogs at first but after first sniffs jumps right into playing. No experience with cats. Dash is very food motivated and has learned to come when called and to sit. Dash is just a bundle of love and would do great with a family that would be patient with him as he grows and learns his manners.

Dug_Website Pending.png

Dug

AGE: Approx. 8 weeks old

SEX: Male

BREED: Shepherd Mix

LITTER: Pixar

From the foster home:

Dug loves spending time going for drives, taking naps, and playing with his toys and other furry friends. He’s done great thus far with kids, dogs, and cats but needs some attention when it comes to playing with cats because he does not realize most of them don’t want to wrestle with a dog. He is working hard on kennel and potty training and is slowly getting there. Dug does like to bark during the day when he’s bored in the kennel so he’d be best suited in a home that won’t be bothered by the noise in his early ages. When we are relaxing on the couch, Dug likes to do the same by being wrapped up in a blanket and will fall asleep almost instantly. Dug is very food motivated so it will be quite easy to keep him on his training path with food and treats being used as rewards. Dug has been doing great with learning to sit for treats and food and an overall great listener! Dug has also been socialized with quite a few people now and we have had no problems so he should become a very friendly dog as he grows older. He has been a pleasure to have in our home and hope he finds his way comfortably into yours.

Andy_Website Pending.png

Andy

AGE: Approx. 8 weeks old

SEX: Male

BREED: Shepherd Mix

LITTER: Pixar

From the foster home:

Andy is a roly-poly pup, full of mischief. He is a busy little boy that will keep you on your toes. Don’t let that sweet face fool you…he knows how to use it for his advantage.

He has spent is time in foster care along side his brother and he has made it clear that he is the boss. He plays hard and likes to rough house at any given opportunity but also has a softer side and will allow time for snuggling.

Andy has been working very hard on his potty training but he needs a little more attention given to this. With a bit of patience and guidance from his new family, we know he will have it down, no problem.

He has been doing great with his crate training. He is a little vocal at the beginning but quickly settles in for the night and lets his foster family get a solid 6 hours of sleep. Yay! Keep up the good work, Andy!

He has been so much fun to have in our care. What a personality! But we love him all the more for it!

Cruze_Website Pending.png

Cruze

AGE: Approx. 8 weeks old

SEX: Male

BREED: Shepherd Mix

LITTER: Pixar

From the foster home:

I love cuddles with my foster mum, playing in the backyard chasing my big foster sister and teasing my older brother who doesn’t like playing at all! I am having a great time at my foster home. I go to the door when I need to go out to do my business. I had my first vet appointment this week and I am in good health and will start losing my baby teeth in a few weeks. I prefer to sleep on the floor at night, especially on a cool register. I will go into my kennel when my parents go out and I am starting to realize it's not so scary after all! I can't wait to meet my forever family!

Julietta_Website Pending.png

Julietta

AGE: Approx. 8 weeks old

SEX: Female

BREED: Shepherd Mix

LITTER: Pixar

From the foster home:

Julietta definitely lives up to the Shepherd in her, both in looks and in personality. She often leads her brother around and is the decider of when it’s play time or nap time. She is quite the climber and explorer, and she loves to give a nice lick hello to humans that she meets. She does very well at going to the bathroom on pee pads and is getting better at walks on her leash.

Ryley_Website Pending.png

Ryley

AGE: Approx. 8 weeks old

SEX: Female

BREED: Shepherd Mix

LITTER: Pixar

From the foster home:

Ryley is fearless! She is the 1st to try/get into everything. She is so incredibly smart for a pup her age. She is VERY social. She is very eager to please, especially with her foster uncle's dog. She is his shadow. Potty Training we are having more hits than misses. Great with kids and respectful of cats. A few swipes on nose has taught her that. Loves to play and is a treasure! Working on crate training. Leash training as well. She is great when she leads. Sits for treats and is smart enough to have figured out if she sees u have treats she sits before command. She is sassy and is a leader.

Hawkeye_Website Hold.png

Hawkeye

AGE: Approx. 1 year old

SEX: Male

BREED: Malamute Mix

From the foster home:

Hawkeye (hawk for short) is a Malamute mix who's full of energy and personality! He's very stubborn so will need a home that's willing to work on training and keep training into the future. Hawk is also extremely loyal, once he has his person, he won't leave their side. Hawks fosters currently have a 5 ft chain link fence. When he stands on his hind legs his head is over the fence, he's a big boy! The perfect home for Hawkeye would have a minimum 6 ft wood fenced yard, no cats, children or other dogs and an owner who's willing to take on the time commitment to train, exercise and give hawk mental stimulation. Being a malamute he's very vocal and loves to express his opinion whenever possible, so Hawk would probably do best in a house instead of an apartment or townhouse since he does need a yard and might be a little too vocal for any neighbours across the hall. Hawkeye has the potential to become a great companion for the right person.

Buzz_Website Adopted.png

Buzz

AGE: Approx. 8 weeks old

SEX: Male

BREED: Shepherd Mix

LITTER: Pixar

From the foster home:

Buzz is a sweet boy who is totally motivated by food. He learned quickly to do his business outside and makes it to a pee pad inside if I miss his cues. He travels well in a crate and is learning that it's not a scary place to sleep. He is pretty good on a leash but is stubborn - he will decide when he is done on his walks and just lie down. Buzz is learning his name and will come when called (especially when you have a treat for him). He has learned to sit and is working on other commands. Buzz is living with one of his brothers, Dash. They play rough like brothers will. If they get too rough, he is easily redirected to chewing on a toy (he loves chewing like any puppy does). He has met other dogs and is timid at first but soon warms up and is a nice boy to play with. No experience with cats. Buzz is just a sweetheart of a boy with a stubborn streak. As with any puppy, he will need a foster home with patience to continue teaching him his manners.

Elinor_Website Adopted.png

Elinor

AGE: Approx. 8 weeks old

SEX: Female

BREED: Shepherd Mix

LITTER: Pixar

From the foster home:

Elinor is such a little ball of energy, just as a puppy should be! She's curious about EVERYTHING, and catches onto things so quickly! She loves playtime, splashing in her water bowl, and playing tug-of-war. She is very food motivated which makes her eager to learn new tricks! Some of her favorite treats are watermelon, apples, cucumber, or whatever her foster sisters are eating! Elinor is house, kennel and leash trained and knows a few basic commands. She has been great around other dogs and children.

Clover_Website Adopted.png

Clover

AGE: Approx 3 months

BREED: Shepherd Mix

SEX: Female

From the foster home:

Clover is a 3-month-old Shepard mix. The world is very new to her, but she is a brave and curious girl. Clover would do best with another dog, or an active person or family. She is curious about cats and will need to be monitored around them since she has had limited exposure. Clover is doing great on her recall training, leash walking, and can already sit or lay down on command. Her next big trick will be the “place” command when we need her to stay and wait for a while. At night she sleeps in her crate, going into her crate is not her favourite but she will stay in and sleep during the night. Some of her hobbies include chewing, especially since she has all her baby teeth, but she knows to chew on her toys, and playing with her temporary doggy brother. If you are looking for a great first dog or want to add to your pack then Clover is the puppy for you!

Bailey_Website Adopted.png

Bailey

AGE: Approx. 8 weeks old

SEX: Female

BREED: Shepherd Mix

LITTER: Pixar

From the foster home:

Bailey is a bit timid. She is very thoughtful and prefers to watch and learn instead of going all in. She shows patience and an eagerness to please. Potty training is going very well. Leash and basic commands are slow but she is catching on. Bailey loves to play, her favourite toys are squeaky toys. She is great with cats. She is not as outgoing as her sister but slow and steady wins the race and that is Bailey. She is an old soul in a little body and will make a great life long companion.

Woody_Website Adopted.png

Woody

AGE: Approx. 8 weeks old

SEX: Male

BREED: Shepherd Mix

LITTER: Pixar

From the foster home:

Woody is such a meek and mild little pup. So sweet! He is calm and quiet…unless he’s fending off his brother, then he has a lot to say!

A good portion of his day is spent sleeping under the couch, and then zipping outside to enjoy a romp around the yard and…more sleeping.

Woody LOVES treats and gets so excited he can barely contain himself. He is working hard at learning to wait patiently for any food or treats given.

He was quick to learn the rules of the house, and has done an excellent job at his potty training (only one accident in the house). At night, he quiets down quickly in his kennel and lets us get a solid 6 hours sleep.

We have fallen in love with him during the short time he has been in our care and we know that you will too!

Buddy_Website Adopted.png

Buddy

AGE: Approx. 2 years old

SEX: Male

BREED: Shepherd Mix

From the foster home:

As first time fosters we couldn't ask for a more well behaved dog as Buddy! Buddy is so sweet and just loves everyone he has met so far. He is housebroken and we've been able to leave him at home for a few hours at a time with no problems. He just sleeps while we're gone. We haven't seen a need to crate him, even while we're asleep. He loves being around his humans and will follow you everywhere. Buddy listens really well and so far has followed the boundaries that we have set for him. He also walks well on a leash, despite being hesitant at first. He is non-reactive to kids walking by or on bikes. Also does not react to other dogs barking at him. We're currently working on door manners and basic commands and have been getting good results.

Buddy will demand pets and cuddles when he sees that you're just relaxing on the couch. He does have a tendency to try and jump up on you when he's overly excited-but this only happens occasionally. When trying new things he will resist at first by just lying on the ground. But be patient and confident and he will follow.

Buddy seems to be wary of the garden hose for some reason and won't come near us if he sees us pick it up. Loud noises (like metal banging) also frightens him. He rarely barks, but recently he has taken to barking in the middle of the night-we think he's hearing wildlife near our place during that time. Overall he is a great dog and anyone would be lucky to have him as part of their family.
